Miami Gardens starts a few minutes west of our office in North Miami Beach. The Turnpike, I-95, the Palmetto and NW 27th Avenue all run through or along the city, and Hard Rock Stadium brings tens of thousands of extra cars on game and event days. Lavent Law, P.A. has represented injured people in South Florida since 2014. The first consultation is free, and you pay no attorney fee unless we recover money for you.

Accidents we see in Miami Gardens
Miami-Dade’s Vision Zero data, as reported by NBC 6, ranked Miami Gardens fourth among the county’s cities in 2023 for crashes that killed or seriously injured someone: 93 crashes, 117 people.
NW 27th Avenue. The city’s main north-south road runs past Calder Casino and Hard Rock Stadium, with businesses and bus stops along the way. Pedestrians struck while crossing away from a signal are a recurring case. See our pedestrian accident page.
Miami Gardens Drive (NW 183rd Street) and NW 199th Street. These are the main east-west routes to the Turnpike and I-95, and NW 199th Street is the stadium’s front door. Left turns across fast traffic are the typical crash; see left-turn accidents.
US-441 (State Road 7). The commercial strip on the city’s west side combines high speeds with constant driveway traffic, and it has seen serious and fatal crashes. See our car accident page.
The Golden Glades Interchange, the Turnpike and I-95. Golden Glades, at the city’s southeast edge, carries more than 400,000 vehicles a day, and the state’s rebuild of the interchange is scheduled to run through 2031. Lane shifts, construction zones and heavy truck traffic produce rear-end and multi-vehicle crashes. See truck accidents and highway crashes.
Game days and big events. Dolphins and Hurricanes games, the Miami Open, the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix and concerts close parts of NW 199th Street and NW 27th Avenue and send crowds walking along roads after dark. During the largest events, rideshare pickups have been moved away from the stadium. Event-day cases include pedestrians struck near the venue, Uber and Lyft crashes, and falls in parking lots and stands.
Off the road, we handle slip-and-fall injuries in stores and apartment complexes and dog bites, which Florida law generally treats as the owner’s responsibility even if the dog never bit anyone before.
After an accident in Miami Gardens
Call 911 if anyone is hurt. Miami Gardens Police investigate crashes on city streets, and the Florida Highway Patrol handles the Turnpike and I-95. Ask the officer how to get the report number.
Jackson North Medical Center on NW 170th Street has a 24-hour emergency room for adults and children. People with the most serious injuries are often taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial, the county’s Level I trauma center.
If it was a car accident, get medical care within 14 days. Florida’s no-fault coverage (PIP) will not pay for treatment if your first visit comes after that. If the other driver had no insurance, your own uninsured motorist coverage may be what pays for the rest.
If you were hurt at the stadium, report it to guest services before you leave, photograph the spot and get the names of staff who helped you. Venue video is often kept only for a short time, so a written request to preserve it should go out quickly.
When an insurance adjuster calls, you do not have to give a recorded statement, and you should not give one before you have talked to a lawyer.
Florida law in brief
Deadline. Most negligence claims must be filed within two years of the injury. A claim against a government entity, such as the city or the county transit system, requires written notice first and carries its own limits on recovery.
Shared fault. Your recovery is reduced by your percentage of fault. If you are found more than 50 percent at fault, you recover nothing.
Car accidents. Your own PIP pays first, up to $10,000. A claim against the at-fault driver for pain and suffering generally requires a permanent or similarly serious injury.
Falls. In most slip-and-fall cases, you have to show the owner knew or should have known about the hazard. For spills and other substances on a business’s floor, Florida law specifically requires proof of that notice.
How we work with Miami Gardens clients
Our office is close enough that many Miami Gardens clients stop in, and others start by phone or video. We begin by securing the crash report, 911 records, camera footage and witness information. If you need treatment, we can help you find doctors, including providers who will wait for payment until the case is resolved. After treatment, we document your medical bills, lost wages and how the injury has affected your life, and we negotiate with the insurer. If the insurer will not make a fair offer, we file suit.
You work directly with the attorney handling your case, in English or Russian.
Nearby communities
We also serve North Miami Beach, North Miami, Opa-locka, Miami Lakes, Aventura and Hallandale Beach. For crashes on the North Miami Beach side of the Golden Glades, see our North Miami Beach car accident page.
Frequently asked questions
I was hurt at an event at Hard Rock Stadium. Who is responsible?
It depends on what happened. The stadium operator, a security or parking contractor, or another guest may be responsible. Ticket terms can limit some claims, but they do not automatically rule out a claim based on the venue’s negligence. Keep your ticket and parking receipt.
My crash was on the Turnpike. How do I get the report?
FHP reports are filed with the state. For the first 60 days, Florida crash reports are released only to the people involved, their lawyers and their insurers, and you can request yours online from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
How far is your office from Miami Gardens?
A few minutes east. The office is at 17295 NE 19th Avenue in North Miami Beach.
How long do I have to file?
For most negligence claims, two years from the date of the injury. Government claims have separate notice deadlines, so call early.
What does it cost?
Nothing up front. The fee is a percentage of what we recover, and there is no attorney fee if there is no recovery.
