Hallandale Beach sits just across the county line from our North Miami Beach office, a few minutes north. The short drive hides one difference that matters: Hallandale is in Broward County, so injury lawsuits from here are filed in the Broward court system rather than Miami-Dade. Lavent Law, P.A. handles cases in both counties and has represented injured people in South Florida since 2014. Consultations are free and available in English or Russian, and you pay no attorney fee unless we recover money for you.

Where people get hurt in Hallandale Beach
Hallandale Beach Boulevard. The main east-west road connects I-95 to A1A and passes shopping centers, Gulfstream Park and dense residential blocks. Turning crashes, rear-end collisions and pedestrian accidents make up most of what we see on it.
A1A and the beachfront condos. The oceanfront strip is lined with older and newer high-rises. Pedestrians cross A1A to reach the beach, and drivers pull in and out of condo driveways with limited visibility. Inside the buildings, the usual problems are wet lobby and pool-deck floors, broken walkways and garage hazards; see condo accidents.
US-1 and Dixie Highway. Federal Highway carries heavy commercial traffic. Dixie Highway runs beside the FEC tracks used by Brightline and freight trains, and the rail crossings deserve particular care; see our train accident page.
Gulfstream Park. Large crowds, parking areas and event traffic lead to parking lot collisions, pedestrian injuries and falls. Claims against the property owner follow premises liability rules; see mall and shopping center injuries.
We also handle motorcycle, bicycle, Uber and Lyft and dog bite cases for Hallandale clients.
What being in Broward County means for your case
Most of the law is the same on both sides of County Line Road, because Florida’s negligence rules, insurance rules and deadlines are statewide. The practical differences are procedural: the case is filed in Broward circuit court, the judges and local procedures are different, and a jury would come from Broward County. Your choice of lawyer does not have to depend on the county, but your lawyer should be comfortable practicing in it.
After an accident in Hallandale Beach
Call 911 if anyone is hurt. The Hallandale Beach Police Department handles crashes and incidents in the city, and the report will matter later.
After a car accident, see a doctor within 14 days. Florida’s no-fault coverage (PIP) does not pay for treatment if your first visit is outside that window. After a fall in a condo, store or restaurant, report it in writing and ask for a copy of the incident report.
Take photographs of the scene and your injuries, and get the names and numbers of anyone who saw what happened. Condo buildings and businesses often keep security video, but usually only for a short time.
If an adjuster calls, you are not required to give a recorded statement. It is safer not to give one until you have talked with a lawyer.
The rules that apply
Most negligence claims must be filed within two years of the injury. Florida reduces your recovery by your share of fault, and if you are found more than 50 percent at fault, you recover nothing. After a car accident, your own PIP coverage pays first, up to $10,000, and a pain-and-suffering claim against the at-fault driver generally requires a permanent or similarly serious injury. In fall cases, you usually need to show the owner knew or should have known about the hazard.
How we handle Hallandale cases
We collect the police or incident report and ask the property or nearby businesses to preserve video. We open the insurance claims and take over all contact with adjusters. While you treat, we help you find doctors, including providers who will wait to be paid until the case resolves. When treatment is complete, we present the claim with full documentation, and if the insurer will not make a fair offer, we file suit in Broward County.

Frequently asked questions
Your office is in Miami-Dade. Can you handle a Broward case?
Yes. We handle cases in both Miami-Dade and Broward. The Hallandale line is only a few minutes from our office.
I fell in my condo building on A1A. Who is responsible?
Usually the condo association or its management company, depending on who controlled the area and whether they knew or should have known about the hazard. A contractor may also be responsible if their work created the danger.
I was hit in the Gulfstream Park parking lot. What kind of claim is that?
It is a car accident claim against the other driver, and possibly a premises claim against the property owner if lighting, signage or traffic layout contributed.
How long do I have to file?
For most negligence claims, two years from the date of the injury. Video and witnesses are easiest to find in the first few weeks.
What does it cost?
Nothing up front. The fee is a percentage of what we recover, and there is no attorney fee if there is no recovery.
